NOTE: This BMI calculator is for adults only. Different BMI calculation rules apply for children and adolescents. Also there are some limitations to the Body Mass Index calculation because it does not measure body composition (i.e. how much of your body weight is fat and how much is muscle). BMI overestimates body fat in persons who are very muscular and it can underestimate body fat in persons who have lost muscle mass (e.g., elderly people). People with more muscular builds may be classified as overweight according to BMI numbers even if they have a very healthy body fat percentage. A high BMI from increased muscle alone is not associated with health risks.
If you are adolescent, pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or have a BMI over 30, please talk to your doctor or dietician about your diet plans.
